Chinese Language School

The Chinese Language School teaches reading, writing and conversational Cantonese while providing a loving and caring Christian environment for children, youth and even adults.

Cantonese classes have been offered since 1995 to children from ages 5 to adults. Putonghua classes were added in 2004 and offered to children 8 years and older. The "Pin Yin" method is used to teach children to speak and practice Putonghua in class.

Sessions usually begin in August and end in May.

2019-2020 School Year

The first semester begins August 17, 2019; the second semester begins January 11, 2020. Classes are offered in Cantonese and Mandarin (Putonghua) on Saturday mornings for students from ages 5 to adult. Each class is 2 hours long: 8:30am to 10:20am or 10:30am to 12:20pm. In addition to the Chinese language, these classes also introduce students to Chinese culture, customs, and traditional values.

Placement is done according to the Chinese language knowledge of each student. Students learn through reading, writing, listening, and speaking, studying character combinations and applying these skills to practical, hands-on activities such as Hanyu Pinyin and conversation practice. Our recently remodeled nursery is open to all infants and babies up to 3 years of age during the Sunday worship morning services (9:30am-12:30pm). Children are supervised by church volunteers in a safe and loving environment where they can grow to know the Lord Jesus. The goal of the nursery ministry is to lay the foundation of God's loving presence in their lives so they can accept Him as Savior when they grow older.

Preschool Time

Preschool age children are taught the basics of God's Word during two class times (9:30am-10:45am and 11:15am-12:30pm). They learn about God through age appropriate Bible stories, songs, crafts, games, and free play. All teachers who work with our children go through a background check.
